Jul 14, 2010    The Healing Place Goes Green with Holocene
The Healing Place of Wake County has announced that it has selected Holocene, LLC, a cutting-edge renewable energy development company, to provide solar thermal domestic hot water for The Healing Place of Wake County. The system will allow The Healing Place to realize immediate and long term savings due to a reduction in the consumption of natural gas.


Mar 24, 2010    The Healing Place CEO Provides Testimony to US Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee
Raleigh—The Healing Place of Wake County announced that on March 24, 2010, Mr. Dennis Parnell, The Healing Place President and CEO was requested to provide testimony before the at U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. This committee is chaired by Senator Daniel K. Akaka, Hawaii. The ranking committee member is Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina. Senator Burr had been briefed on The Healing Place by his staff and invited Mr. Parnell to provide more details on the successful efforts of The Healing Place in reducing homelessness among the veteran population.


Mar 4, 2010    Quilters Make A Case For Wake Women In Recovery
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Quilters and sewing enthusiasts are donating handmade pillowcases to The Healing Place of Wake County. Raleigh quilting shop, Wish Upon A Quilt, initiated the year-long pillowcase drive in response to the "Make A Million Pillowcases" challenge issued this year by American Patchwork and Quilting. In addition, Wish Upon A Quilt is contributing $1 to The Healing Place for every pillowcase donated--that's $175 so far. Caring gestures do make a difference in our community. The gift of a handmade pillowcase tells a woman recovering from addiction that someone cares about her. The Healing Place will also use the pillowcases in further fundraising efforts.

Raleigh— The Healing Place of Wake County announced that on Tuesday evening, February 9th at 7 PM, the Men’s Facility will host Author Scott Wittig for an exclusive book signing of Holy IT! On hand will be WRAL's Pam Saulsby, Lisa Rousseau and Barrett Joyner from The Healing Place as well as clients and special guests.

Raleigh NC— The clients at The Healing Place of Wake County had a nice surprise this week when Rob Butler stopped by. That was because Mr. Butler was donating clothes for clients to wear when looking for new jobs.

Nov 1, 2009    The Healing Place Shelter Participates in the Cold Weather “White Flag” Program
Raleigh NC— The Healing Place of Wake County and other organizations providing shelter for homeless individuals extend their services during cold weather months (November through March) by implementing the "White Flag" system. When the temperatures are below freezing a white flag event is called and designated homeless shelters provide capacity beyond the norm.


Sep 25, 2009    The Stewards Fund Awards The Healing Place $100,000 Challenge Grant
While a turbulent economic year is drawing to a close, The Healing Place of Wake County has a strong incentive to obtain new and increased gifts from individuals and organizations. This incentive is due to the Stewards Fund providing a $100,000 challenge grant that will match end of the year contributions from new donors.

Raleigh—Chris Budnick, Vice President of Programs at The Healing Place of Wake County has been invited to speak at the 18th annual Public Law and the Public’s Lawyers program. This program will be held on September 24 and 25 and presented to approximately 200 public lawyers in North Carolina.
